Description
Ask any Drupal developer about their toolkit and they will almost always tell you about the features of their MacBook or how their favorite Linux flavor works so much like their production environment. Whether it be for the belief that it is an impractical OS for the job or they simply don’t want to admit they use it, you will almost never hear a Drupal developer tell you about their Windows PC.
Despite the lack of acknowledgement, Windows PCs can be every bit as empowering to a Drupal developer as the other options out there. Whether you prefer Windows, have only ever known Windows, or are forced into Windows by your IT department, you can still be a professional Drupal developer on your Windows PC.
In this talk, you will learn about some of the tools available to you as a Windows Drupal developer. We will discuss common applications, virtual environments, and some tips and tricks for development on Windows. We will discuss dealing with restrictive policies in enterprise environments and how to talk with IT about getting access to the tools you need. We will conclude with a group discussion about various Windows tools, concerns, gotchas, and other relevant topics.
